Beachside Living at The Salty Pelican

When we designed The Salty Pelican, we wanted to create more than just a vacation rental. We wanted a place we would genuinely love spending time in ourselves. Every detail has been thoughtfully considered, from comfortable beds, soft bedding, and blackout shades in the bedrooms to a fully stocked kitchen with everything you could need—and then some! Our goal was to create a home that feels just as comfortable and inviting as your own. And as much as we love the house, the LOCATION is truly something special! If you’ve never experienced the North End of Virginia Beach, you’re in for a treat. This quiet, residential stretch of coastline is a world away from the busy resort area. The beach is just steps from your door, with no roads to cross! There’s no need to haul everything you own down to the sand. Forgot your sunscreen, a snack, or an extra towel? Just pop back to the house! One of the best-kept secrets of the North End is how peaceful the beach feels, even during the summer. With very limited public parking nearby, you won’t find yourself fighting crowds to claim a great oceanfront spot for your umbrellas and chairs. And yes, dogs are welcome on the beach, too, with morning and evening restrictions during the summer months. Love nature? You’re in the perfect spot. Just one block away, across Atlantic Avenue, you’ll find access to the beautiful trails of First Landing State Park. In a matter of minutes, you can go from sandy beaches and ocean breezes to a lush maritime forest filled with fascinating history dating back to the earliest European arrivals in North America. It’s an incredible place to hike, explore, or get some exercise beneath the shade of the trees. First Landing State Park also offers beaches along the Chesapeake Bay, where the calmer, gentler waters are especially wonderful for families with little ones who might need a break from the ocean waves. And there’s even more to come! You may notice that we haven’t posted exterior photos just yet. That’s because we’re working on a major backyard transformation! By the end of 2026, we expect the outdoor space to be completely reimagined, creating yet another wonderful place to relax and enjoy your stay. No renters under the age of 25 unless part of a family group. Only 1 pet allowed and only dogs Pets are not allowed on the beds or on the furniture. Pets should be crated if there is any chance of them being descructive or getting on the furniture.
